KAron® Hyrodpower Bearings and Coatings
Following over 20 years of extensive use by U.S. and European Navies aboard ships, submarines, hovercraft and hydrofoils, KAron self-lubricated bearings are now widely used throughout the hydropower industry. With unequaled load capacity, low friction and greatly extended service life, KAron bearings offer a significant upgrade in performance while eliminating periodic lubrication and maintenance.
KAron, a polyester, thermosetting resin-based material incorporating PTFE particles, was originally developed for the demanding load and environmental requirements of military and commercial aviation and was later adapted for a wide variety of submerged or near-water marine applications.
In the hydropower industry, KAron is widely specified for control linkages, operating rings, valve pivots, pintles, gate wear bars & rollers, fish screen bushings and chain linkages. Additionally, the high dynamic bearing pressure capabilities of KAron make it an ideal replacement for Kaplan hub bushing/spherical bearing applications. KAron has superior dry operating characteristics, thus eliminating “break-in” greases and, due to the fact that KAron can be machined, it is an ideal bearing choice for final on-site sizing.
KAMATICS offers KAron with metal or composite substrates for new installations or refurbishments.
